New users read this!

1. Head to www.tumblr.com and register a new account. They only ask for email and password, takes 10 seconds. This will give you a tumblr blog thingy, which is equivalent to what www.wotev.com is built on.
2. Email me to say you want to join the wotev group, telling me the email address that you used to register at tumblr. I will then invite you to the group and let you know via email.
3. Login to tumblr.com, click on the “Dashboard” link at the top, then click “Customize”. This is where you configure your personal tumblr blog page, if you ever want to use it, but for the purposes of Wotev you need to assign a “Portrait Photo” that will appear next to each post that you make. Otherwise it will have the lame default silhouette picture.
4. Click on the “Groups” menu at the top and select “wotev”. From here you can see an overview of the existing posts as well as make a post of your own using the appropriate icon (“Text/Photo/Quote/Link/Chat/Audio/Video”) for the type of content that you want to post.
5. Since tumblr doesn’t natively support comments on posts for some stupid reason, I had to add a custom module. This means you need to go to www.gravatar.com and set up an account there (its quick and simple), using the same email address, username and portrait photo that you used for tumblr. So these will be the same details for posting comments on wotev.com. Once you do it once for a comment, it will use a browser cookie to remember the details for subsequent comments.
6. You are now set up to be able to make posts on wotev.com and comment on posts. Just remember to login at tumblr.com first, then select “wotev” from the “Groups” menu at the top. If you are accidentally in “Dashboard” instead of “Groups”, any posts you make will be to your personal tumblr blog page (i.e. http://username.tumblr.com) instead of wotev.com.
7. Another option for posting cool stuff you see on the net to wotev is to use a bookmarklet in your browser’s bookmarks bar. To get this, select “Goodies” from the “Account” menu after you login to tumblr. After dragging the button to your bookmarks bar, you can navigate to any web page with something interesting on it (e.g. youtube) and click that button, giving you some options for creating a post. When posting via this method, MAKE SURE you select “wotev” instead of “my tumblog” from the dropdown at the bottom, otherwise the post will end up on your own blog rather than wotev.
8. Start posting cool shit :)

NOTE: Keep in mind that this blog is public, so “The Internets” (i.e. Google, your mum, etc) can see anything thats posted here, so try not to post anything too personal or invasive. I reserve the right to delete anything I think is dodgy, or remove any members that are being dicks. Deal with it.
